Inspiration

As a business owner, don’t you just love to “Just Do It” like Nike says? Become famous like Big Mac by “Connecting People” to your product or services instantly? And most of all, don’t you just wish your business “Keeps Going, and Going, and Going”? Despair not, because the “Power of Dreams” have been known to boost brands to become the symbols we love today.

Where to Find Inspiration
If you are wondering where to begin finding a business idea that will last, the best place to start is from within. Ask yourself what you love to do; what you are good at and passionate about that you can keep doing for years on end.

Once established what business you want to get into, check out the industry, research competitors and find out what others are doing to keep their business going. Get inspiration from watching people’s interaction with the product or service you want to sell. For instance, inspiration for establishing a coffee shop may be found at Starbucks, Gloria Jeans or even the local street café. Listen to your audience; understand what they want. Take note of what appeal to them – the price, package, product, or simply the aesthetics.

Based on these researches, think of a business name that will communicate with your future customers. The name should be easy to remember and connect your customers with your product. It shouldn’t be a mouthful (although at times that works too) so that it’s difficult for the customers to recall or too generic that it becomes forgettable.

What to look for in a logo design concept
Next comes getting a logo that would identify your business and separate it from the rest of the crowd. Getting a logo designed nowadays is easy – you have the option of hiring a professional graphic designer; use a crowdsourcing platform or simply design it yourself. If you choose the latter, then a logo creator tool like the one on Logosnap is ideal and gives you control over what you want to design.

Color Wheel

Some of the elements that professionals give careful thought to include colors, fonts, symbols, and style. One of the best places to see what is trending in logos and get inspiration from is Google Trends. Check out logo books; browse the design websites. Most logo designers follow preferred colors and style but they also keep in mind the business you are engaged in, the industry type, and the target customers. You will hardly find a classical style logo designed for a technology company.

How to effectively use your logo
One of the most important things to remember in this is – a logo lasts forever (or almost) and is used in almost all situations in the business. From business card to website, stationery, packaging and even in marketing collaterals like t-shirts, caps, mats, tissue papers etc. For this very reason, choose wisely so that you do not have regrets later on. Put your logo to use where you think will establish your business identity, speak to your customers, or build rapport with them.
